How does Camden County College manage their technologies?

• Camden County College uses WebStudy to host the LMS and CMS.
• Webstudy hosts the Learning Management System (LMS)/ Course Management System (CMS).
• The LMS and CMS run on the servers of WebStudy, therefore Camden County College does not need to be concerned with any management other than technical support for students and faculty.
• Camden County College sends a daily queried file to WebStudy that updates student account, coded courses, etc.
• The technology department is responsible for sending the daily fils to WebStudy and also for all student technical support.
• The Distance Learning office is responsible for providing instructor technical support.
• The Distance Learning office is also responsible for training the new online/hybrid faculty.

How does Camden County College address concerns such as the type and size of bandwidth and the capability of implementing Web 2.0 tools?

• Since WebStudy is hosted at another site, Camden County College does not need to worry about maintaining the WebStudy system.
• WebStudy has their system maintained at a secure facility structured to prevent downtime.
• This is an ideal way to do this because if the power goes out at Camden County College or the Internet goes down, students can still access WebStudy from home or other locations
• Bandwidth has been an issue at the ground school, especially in the library.  This created problems with streaming online videos for the online courses if the student was actually at a ground location on campus.
• The Distance Learning Director believes that the bandwidth and Internet availability issues are being addressed by the OIT department and that they should not be an issue down the road.
• Web 2.0 enhancements are done directly by WebStudy.
• They continually enhance the system to incorporate new Web 2.0 technolologies.
• The Distance Learning Department is expecting some more excellent enhancements in the fall of 2012.

What upgrades or changes are necessary to provide better technology integration for adult learning opportunities?

The main issues are that the college can provide the necessary bandwidth and wireless access.

• The campus needs wireless access throughout
• The campus needs updated servers, more hubs and routers
• The new technologies needed require additional funding, this is the hardest part to provide
• New computers would help to prepare the university for upcoming technologies
• The university needs to prepare for the uptrend of smaller devices such as tablets, Ipads, and smartphones
